Who Qualifies?

People who have Medicare part A or Medicare Part B are eligible for Medicare prescription drug coverage.

Things to consider:

  1. Optional - A Plan D or Prescription Drug Plan is an option – not a requirement.  However if you don’t sign up for a prescription drug plan when you become eligible and you want to elect to do so later, you’ll have to pay a higher premium.
  2. Monthly Premiums - Prescription drug plans have a monthly premium in addition to the Medicare premium you will or are already paying. However, some Medicare Advantage plans have a drug plan included at no additional cost.
